Examination


CLASSES - I TO V

The entire session has been divided into six units and three terms. There will be a Semester Examinations of 50 Marks for the students of III, IV and V classes in the month of March to help them in learning better.

For classes I to V, there will be continuous, cumulative and comprehensive assessment throughout the year on the basis of Project Work, Home Work, Day to Day Class Work etc. Evaluation of the child will be done on five point rating scale A*, A, B, C, D.

UNIT TEST: It will be held on every Monday and Date Sheet is given in the School Almanac. Activity / Project Work given by the subject teachers will be assessed separately for each subject. Parents are requested to only guide and help their ward and let him / her do it. For other areas / skills, assessment will be done by the subject teachers during their particular period on regular basis without any prior intimation.

If your ward is getting ‘D’ grade in any of the areas / skills in first and second evaluation, timely remedial actions is most essential. Parents are advised to see the subject teachers immediately for guidelines and direction, to bring the child upto the expected standard.

NOTE: For further details and clarifications in this regard, parents can meet the concerned teacher with prior appointment.

CLASSES VI - X
Evaluation is very important component of the School Curriculum with the twin purpose of effective delivery and further improvement in the teaching learning process. If evaluation is merged into teaching learning, learners will not fear examination.
As per CBSE rules, CCE, the new pattern of evaluation has been introduced which will lead to diagnosis, remediation and enhancement of learning. In order to have Cumulative Comprehensive Evaluation, Both the Scholastic and Co-Scholastic aspects are given due importance.

  • Under Scholastic Assessment, there would be Written Tests, Projects, Assignments, Quizzes, Research Work, Group Discussions etc.
  • Under Co - Scholastic Assessment various thinking skills, life skills, emotional skills would be taught and assesses through various co - curricular and club activities.

The entire session would be divided into smaller parts and assessment would be spread over to the whole year in the form of:

  • Formative Assessment (FA), 2) Summative Assessment (SA)

Formative Assessment (FA) means testing a child informally during the instructional process by using different techniques of evaluation like projects, class/home assignments, research work, conversation skills, quizzes etc. It is a tool which enables a teacher to continuously monitor a student’s progress.
Summative Assessment (SA) is carried out at the end of a semester and is in the form of a written-graded test. It is marked according to a scale or set of grades.
Detail of the Assessment is as follows:

A STUDENT ABSENTING HIMSELF / HERSELF FROM SA1 OR SA2 EXAMINATIONS WILL NOT BE RE-TESTED OR RE-EXAMINED.

EXTRA CLASSES FOR CLASS XII ARE CONDUCTED IN 0 PERIOD EVERYDAY.

The syllabus for the Board classes are generally completed by the month of November, after which, besides the revision, extra classes are also held for the students of class XII to prepare them for Board Examination by giving them extra practice to evaluate and take corrective measures wherever necessary.

Preparatory Leave is granted to the students of class XII only for ten days. However, thereafter the teachers are available to solve individual difficulties of students during the School hours but students need to come to School in proper uniform.

ELIGIBILITY / PROMOTION CRITERIA

(PART -I)

  • No student is eligible to appear in the Annual Examination who does not have at least 75% of the actual attendance during the session as per the School calendar.
  • Pass % is 33% for XI and minimum Grade for other classes is ‘D’ Grade.
  • Promotion cannot be claimed as a matter of right but it is given on the basis of cumulative result of the tests conducted at various stages in each subject and the comprehensive exams.
  • The decision of the School Authorities regarding promotion is final.
  • The child is given only one chance to clear EIOP (Eligible for Improvement of Performance) if he/she procures less than ‘D’ Grade.
  • As per CBSE direction only those students would be declared successful in class XI who passed in all five main subjects of their respective streams.

Although, the result of additional subjects will be reflected in the Progress Report, yet it shall not be considered for promotion or detention.
